Umbralis Advisory (Pty) Ltd is a Sandton-based management consultancy. We help organisations across South Africa set a clear strategy, improve how they operate, and make decisions on the strength of good analysis rather than guesswork. The firm is independent, registered with the CIPC under number 2021/431908/07, and works with clients in the private sector, state-owned entities and non-profits.

01 — Profile

An independent advisory firm in Sandton

Umbralis Advisory was established to give organisations practical, honest counsel without the overhead of a large consultancy. We are a private company (proprietary limited) registered with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) under 2021/431908/07 and registered for VAT. The firm is led by two directors, Sipho Dlamini and Anja Pretorius, who each remain personally involved in client work.

We keep teams small and senior, which means the people who scope a project are the people who deliver it. Our registered office is in Sandton, Johannesburg, and we work with clients nationally.

Operations and performance

A good strategy fails without execution. We work alongside operational teams to simplify processes, remove bottlenecks and set the few measures that actually matter. The emphasis is on changes a team can sustain after we leave, not on a report that sits on a shelf.

Typical work includes process and cost reviews, performance-measurement frameworks, and support for change programmes through their difficult middle phase, when early enthusiasm has faded and the results have not yet arrived.

Research and analysis

Good decisions rest on good evidence. We gather and analyse the data a decision needs — market sizing, customer and stakeholder research, financial modelling and benchmarking — and present it plainly, with the assumptions and the uncertainty made visible rather than hidden. Where useful, we build simple models the client can keep and run themselves.

How we work

Senior people, plain language, no jargon

We believe advice is only useful if the client can act on it, so we avoid jargon, show our reasoning, and hand over work the organisation can carry forward on its own. We are independent and take no commissions or referral fees, which means our recommendations answer to the client's interests and nothing else.

The work itself, with regular check-ins so there are no surprises at the end.
